Augsburg will host the anniversary DHV Congress in 2027
The 25th International Congress of the DHV German Association of Hispanists will be celebrated and organized by the ISLA Institute at the 新万博体育下载_万博体育app【投注官网】 of Augsburg in March 9-13, 2027, regarding the diverse and polycentric transatlantic relations of the Spanish-speaking world.
40th ISLA Anniversary
In 2026 Augsburg's interdisciplinary ISLA Institute will celebrate its 40 years of Iberian American Studies with different events in Augsburg, including a ceremony on July 7.
Spaces In-Between
From 8 to 11 April 2026, an international conference on early modern transatlantic intermediate spaces of the 16th and 17th centuries will take place in Augsburg, inaugurating the 40th anniversary of the ISLA Institute.
Latin American Brechthaus Readings
On November 4, 2025 Argentine novelist María Rosa Lojo will read at 6:30 p.m. at the Brechthaus (Auf dem Rain 7), with translations by the Augsburg Taller de Traducción Literaria. Exactly there, on June 18, 2025, Mexican poet Maricela Guerrero read from her work with her German translator, Joanna Schwering. The two Brechthaus readings are part of ISLA's Femmes de Lettres Latinoamericanas Forum.

Poetics of Insomnia
July 22, 2025 the ISLA co-organizes at the Cervantes Institute of Munich a symposium dedicated to Argentine poet Alejandra Pizarnik (1936-1972), including a scenic lecture in collaboration with world famous Lyrik Kabinett. The symposium is coordinated by Dr. Nora Zapf (Iberian Romance Studies) and supported by the Cultural Department of the City of Munich and the Augsburg 新万博体育下载_万博体育app【投注官网】's Graduate Center.
Urban Floods
On June 25, 2025 at 17h30 in D 1005, Mexican Social Scientist Libertad Chávez Rodríguez (CIESAS Center for Research and Advanced Studies in Social Anthropology) will introduce and discuss in Spanish the concept of environmental suffering from an intersectional perspective of risks and social inequalities, based on an ethnographic case study of recurring urban floods in the city of Monterrey. This ISLA PONTES Lecture is a collaboration between the Urban Cultures (URC) Working Group and the IDK International Doctorate Program "Rethinking Environment" (UNIA-LMU).
Indigenous Worlds
On April 29, 2025 at 17h30 in D 1005 the two Argentine CONICET researchers Ana Couchonnal (Universidad Nacional de Formosa) and ?Guillermo Wilde (Universidad Nacional de Salta) will offer an ISLA PONTES double lecture in Spanish on “Indigenous Worlds, Colonization, and the Formation of Modernity in South America.”
Other Urbanisms
Brazilian urbanist Prof. Dr. Renato Cymbalista (FAU-USP) will give a PONTES Lecture on "Other Urbanisms" as part of the interdisciplinary Urban Methods Lecture Series on December 12 (17h30 in D 1005). The lecture is organized by ISLA's Urban Cultures Working Group.
Brazilian Sociology meets Documentary Film
The Augsburg Institute of Social Science in collaboration with the Jakob Fugger Research College organize a Film Series with Brazilian sociologist and documentary filmmaker Prof. Dr. Hermílo Pereira dos Santos Filho (PUCRS, Porto Alegre) from Dec-5 until Jan-16 at the 新万博体育下载_万博体育app【投注官网】 of Augsburg. ISLA/USP-Workshops
The ISLA Institute and its URC Working Group have been awarded, together with their institutional Brazilian partners, FAPESP/BAYLAT funding for joint workshops and activities in S?o Paulo and Augsburg regarding urban-cultural diversity issues and multilingualism.
