In their sociological contribution to law in honour of Prof. Rosalba Alessi, Prof. Dr. Thomas M.J. M?llers and Jan L?ngle explore the significance of legal culture for supreme court jurisprudence. In light of the partnership between the Universities of Augsburg and Palermo, the paper focuses on a comparative analysis of law in Germany and Italy. The starting point for their considerations is the remarkable parallel between the constitutional reservations regarding the primacy of European law found in both countries. This is contrasted with remarkable similarities in the historical development of the federal structure of both countries. The article highlights the extent to which this legal cultural background also shapes the understanding of European integration.

The legal dispute over Tesla CEO Elon Musk's compensation package has brought the discussion about the appropriateness of executive compensation back into the international spotlight. The article by Maximilian Merwald and Alexandra Jahn analyzes the different approaches to regulating executive compensation in Germany and the US. It shows how both legal systems attempt to ensure performance-based and controllable executive compensation, but take different approaches in doing so. Dr. Merwald is an academic advisor and Ms. Jahn is a student assistant at Professor M?llers' chair.
