We are looking for a student assistant to support our two international Humboldt Fellows in research (75%) and support in administration and event organization (25%). Applicants need to have a very good command of English and German.

From November 16 to 17, 2026, Prof. Simone M. Müller and Isabel Richter will host a workshop on the topic: “Environments and Societies at the Crossroads: Socio-Environmental Justice in Europe and the Americas in the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries” at the 新万博体育下载_万博体育app【投注官网】 of California, Berkeley.

As part of the lecture series by Professor Simone M. Müller, there will be guest lectures by Dr. Harrison Croft (24.11.2025, Public Climate School) and by Dr. J. Uluwehi Hopkins (15.12.2025). The lectures will take place on Mondays from 10:00 to 11:30 in Lecture Hall 2107 in Building D. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

On Friday, October 31 2025, the 5th Network Meeting of Environmental History will take place from 12 to 2 p.m. in room 201 of the Alte Universit?t (Eichleitnerstr. 30). In this context, Dr. L. Sasha Gora will give a keynote speech on the topic "Cod, Cabot, and the History of Salt."

“Get off campus” – Walking as a method in historical studies is the title of the article published on Hypotheses, the platform for academic blogs. In it, Prof. Müller describes, among other things, her experiences during the summer semester of 2025 with the students of the advanced seminar “Forest Spirits” on an excursion to the Fugger Forest.

The latest issue of Lagoonscapes (Venice Journal of Environmental Humanities): “Cracking the Surface” was created under the collaboration of Prof. Simone M. Müller and Livia Cahn (Ludwig-Maximilians-新万博体育下载_万博体育app【投注官网】 Munich).

With her book “The Toxic Ship: The Voyage of the Khian Sea and the Global Waste Trade”, Prof. Dr. Simone M. Müller made it to the final of the Fleck Prize 2025.

These are the Harold & Margaret Sprout Award of the International Studies Association (ISA) and the Hagley Prize awarded by the Business History Conference (BHC) and the Hagley Museum and Library.
