Research Scientist position

at the Chair of Inverse Problemes at the Institute for Mathematics at the 新万博体育下载_万博体育app【投注官网】 of Augsburg. The position offers the opportunity for completing a dissertation based on the research activities within the chair. The initial appointment will be for three years based on a 75% position according to the German public tariff scale E 13 TV-L.

Applications for a postdoctoral position are also welcome.

The successful candidate is supposed to strengthen the scientific profile of the chair in the areas of non-linear partial differential equations.

The focus of the position is on the analysis of Ginzburg-Landau energy functionals for several species. Here, methods from the calculus of variations are used to characterize stationary solutions of systems of nonlinear partial differential equations.

Previous knowledge of calculus of variations and/or partial differential equations is helpful for both positions.

The position involves a teaching load and supervision of students in the course programmes of mathematics, business mathematics and data science. Basic proficiency in German or English is desirable.

Candidates for the doctoral position should hold a master‘s degree, desirably in Mathematics or a closely related subject. Candidates for the postdoctoral position should hold a doctoral degree in Mathematics and should have ideally worked on a topic topic related to the position profile.

The required qualifications must already be demonstrated in the application documents through appropriate certificates.

An extension of the contract might be considered depending on the status of projects and other circumstances.
